As I go about my day, I am remembering
fragments from my dream of the night
before.I have to pay attention, or else
they will disappear back into
unconsciousness.
Sometimes I am perplexed……
Who is this man in my dream?
Why am I a servant to this man dressed in
1800 finery?
Am I also a nanny? It seems like I am
trying to gain his favor.
I say “I know how to sew shoes together
like that,” as you see him looking at one
torn shoe. He lets me try it.
After it’s done, I tell him that I don’t know if
the thread was strong enough.
I also remember seeing very tiny women’s
gloves on a table that are very narrow, the
kind you’d see in a museum.
Then other fragments come to memory from another dream, of using guided imagery…..and then dance…..with little Asian girls,
while incongruently, my counseling supervisor watches me the whole time.
First her face looks stern, then
she smiles at me when we are done.
As the little girls leave the room, I wonder
if this is an orphanage, as I see a line of
Asian girls being brought through a side
door into the building.
This bothers me in the present, because
I am now remembering how certain
Asian nations limit families to one or two
children, and the families often prefer
to keep the boys.
But after awhile, I smile as I think how
wonderful it would be for a
childless family to bring a young Asian girl
into their family……
And so my day goes by, wishing I would have
written my dreams down right away upon
awakening.

Very interesting dream. Confusing too! Fragments don't have to mean anything, but sometimes they do. Thanks for sharing. Love , Virg
There is something tender and reflective in how you captured the fragments before they disappeared. Dreams often arrive in symbols, tension, and unfinished images, and I appreciate how honestly you held perplexity rather than forcing certainty. The movement between memory, emotion, and wondering gives this a quiet contemplative depth.
What stayed with me most is the attentiveness in the final reflection, because it speaks to how easily insight can feel near and then slip away. Whether through dreams, memory, or meaning still unfolding, there is something powerful in simply noticing what surfaces and allowing it to be held with curiosity. Thank you for sharing something so layered and introspective.
